Café Supervisor
(P01625)

18 month fixed term contract

£23,166- 25,425 inclusive of outer fringe allowance pro rata

25 hours per week (including weekends) Job Share will be considered

We are looking for an enthusiastic and committed Café Supervisor to expand our current café operation and support our services at the Mill Green Museum and Mill in Hatfield.

This busy service manages two separate heritage sites. At Mill Green Museum and Mill we operate a working watermill and a social history museum. At the Roman Bath House in Welwyn we show the remains of a Roman bathing suite which has been ingeniously preserved in a subterranean structure under the A1(M) motorway.

Working on site with our staff and volunteers you will manage and develop further a small café serving hot and cold drinks, light lunches and other refreshments; provide a catering service for on-site community events and activities as well as private hires of the Mill Green facilities and grounds; comply with all current health, safety and food hygiene regulations; and develop menus with a strong emphasis on locally sourced natural and healthy ingredients. You will have experience of working directly with members of the public in a friendly and confident manner; use an electronic point of sale register; possess good spoken and written communication skills; and have practical physical skills to operate a busy café service for the many visitors to Mill Green.

This post is initially offered on a part-time basis for a fixed period of 18 months before the café service is reviewed. Weekend and bank holiday working is required. Job Sharing will be considered.

For an informal discussion about this role please call Linda Dobbs, Museum Manager on (01707) 357850.

The ability to converse at ease with members of the public and provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential in this post.

Closing date for applications is 17 March 2019.

Assessments and interviews will be held on 28 March 2019.
