This job provides an opportunity to make a positive contribution to safeguarding the special character and appearance of the New Town and Garden City together with the rural areas and villages within the borough of Welwyn & Hatfield.  This is a key role providing a customer focused service to internal and external customers proving technical and professional advice, guidance as well as dealing with and determining a wide range of applications and planning appeals.  In addition, you will be managing, developing and supporting a small team of planning officers in their day-to-day work.

You will have good communication and negotiation skills and be able to demonstrate methodical and well organised working. It is essential that you can understand and interpret technical drawings and plans and able to drive. Ideally, you will have some experience in a development management, planning or enforcement environment.

The ability to converse at ease with members of the public and provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential in this post.

Assessments will be held on 25 October 2017.        

Interviews will be held on 30 and 31 October 2017.
