Career Grade Development Management Officer

£22,711 - £35,368 inclusive of outer fringe allowance                                                 

37 Hours

 You will enjoy the challenge of working in a small team, with the opportunity to work in both an urban and rural environment handling a varied case load of planning applications, applications under the Welwyn Garden City Estate Management Scheme (EMS), appeals and involvement in enforcement investigations.  If you are interested in working in a high performance authority that at the same time values and delivers high quality development while seeking to enhance our New Town and Garden City environments, we want to hear from you.

The requirements:

  • To have completed a relevant degree
  • Awareness of the role and scope of Spatial Planning, Development Management and Planning Enforcement
  • Awareness of current environmental and social issues in the Borough
  • Ability to work in an ordered and logical manner
  • Knowledge of electronic mapping systems
  • Driving license valid in UK with access to a motor vehicle

The following skills are essential to the role and will be tested at interview:

  • Analytical and judgmental skills in order to interpret plans, information and data, identify issues and proposed solutions
  • Ability to organise and prioritise a workload and meet identified deadlines
  • Knowledge of design and layout
  • Ability to communicate effectively and concisely both orally and in a written form
  • The ability to converse at ease with members of the public and provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential in this post.
